From the South

• After leaving the Motorway at Junction 36 follow the signs north for Barrow or Workington.
• Travelling along the A590 the village of Greenodd will be on your right.
• Turn off here, crossing the river and passing the garage on your left.
• Follow this road heading north for 30 miles.
• You will drive through the village of Bootle, then through Waberthwaite.
• About two miles out of Waberthwaite, there is a small road to your right (unsigned) - this is Birkby Road. (If you get to Muncaster Castle, you have gone too far - retrace your steps back down the hill and turn left this time).
• Go down Birkby Road and Cragg Cottage about ½ mile along this road, up the second farm track on your right (there are some dilapidated sheds by the road end).

• Follow the main A595 Cumbrian Coastal route heading South towards Ravenglass.
• When arriving at the Ravenglass junction, turn left following the main road to Muncaster Castle.
• Go past Muncaster, down the hill, over a small bridge and there is an unsigned road to your left. This is Birkby Road.
• Go down Birkby Road and Cragg Cottage about ½ mile along this road, up the second farm track on your right (there are some dilapidated sheds by the road end).

Please note that Cragg Cottage is 100 yards up a farm track which has some potholes and is therefore unsuitable for sports cars and other low cars.
