Force Bank

Force Bank is a character cottage located on a quiet lane between Holmrook and Santon Bridge. With all the accommodation arranged on the ground floor, this cottage is perfect for those who are less mobile. Just next door to Force Bank is a lovely woodland tea room and craft gift shop with an excellent reputation. The peaceful location is a few yards from the banks of the river Irt and the lane is shaded by trees. Friends and couples seeking a relaxing holiday are well catered for with two double bedrooms offering fell views and a bathroom for each bedroom. Force Bank would make a perfect holiday escape for anyone with a musical leaning. An upright Steinway piano is available for use by prior arrangement and the tranquil surrounds of Force Bank and the river Irt will provide appropriate inspiration and atmosphere for music!

Wasdale and Eskdale, two of Lakeland's most scenic and spectacular valleys are within a few minutes drive from the cottage, offering unparalleled walking and climbing. For a slower pace of life why not take a ride on the Ratty through Eskdale and continue to the coast to enjoy the coastal village of Ravenglass.

A five minute walk up the road towards Santon will take you to the Santon Bridge Inn which serves good food daily and has a selection of local ales. Just next door to Force Bank is the Woodlands Tea Room and it's adjoining gift shop. A comprehensive lunch and snacks menu is offered here as well as a good selection of drinks. Handy if you don't fancy making lunch one afternoon! They also serve breakfast until 11.30am each day including options for vegetarians, delicious smoked salmon and rather yummy bacon butties.
